Before Qatar, Gareth Bale declares that he is “100% fit and ready to play” in the 2022 World Cup.

Despite his recent lack of playing time for LAFC, Gareth Bale has stated that he will be fully prepared for the World Cup.

The icon of Wales, Gareth Bale, declared he will be ready for the opening match against the United States on November 21 during the team’s final press conference before leaving for Qatar. In this match, Bale will lead Wales out for the first time since Jimmy Murphy did so in 1958, becoming the country’s first World Cup captain.

Gareth Bale’s statement

“I’m 100% fit and ready to play,” said Bale

“There is no problem. If I need to play three games of 90′, I will play three. It has been difficult, mentally more than anything. I guess for everyone, the last three or four weeks, it’s been tough, even hearing stories of players getting injured and knowing they’re going to miss the World Cup. Talking to some of the guys, even for them having to play this weekend was tough mentally, and we’re praying we don’t get any injuries because it’s a great occasion.

Bale’s Fitness

Bale has historically struggled with his fitness, particularly in the latter stages of his career with Real Madrid. He appeared in the league just five times in his final campaign in the Spanish capital. Since moving to the United States in the summer, he has also played 90 minutes for LAFC once, in their MLS Cup playoff win over Philadelphia on November 5, when he scored a last-second equalizer.

The 33-year-old will be aware that the upcoming competition in Qatar will be his one and only opportunity to perform admirably for his nation on the international stage. By the 2026 edition, he will be 37, making his participation extremely doubtful. On November 21, he’ll be looking to lead Wales to an opening-day victory over the United States.
