Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is a fantasy film directed by David Yates and based on a screenplay by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves that was released in 2022.

It is the third installment in the Fantastic Beasts film series and the twelfth overall in the Wizarding World franchise, following Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018).

Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Katherine Waterston, and Mads Mikkelsen are among the film’s cast members.

The film picks up several years after the events of the first film, with Albus Dumbledore tasked with sending Newt Scamander and his companions on a mission into the heart of Gellert Grindelwald’s army.

Dumbledore’s sexuality was first revealed by J.K. Rowling in 2007, but this is the first time it has been depicted on screen.

In a new Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore teaser, Albus Dumbledore confesses his love for Gellert Grindelwald.

Harry Potter fans have yearned to see Dumbledore’s sexuality represented on paper or screen since J.K. Rowling revealed in 2007 that she “always thought of Dumbledore as gay.” J.K. Rowling admitted in 2019 that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had a “very passionate” sexual relationship, but their relationship was never depicted in the Fantastic Beasts films.

Their love story will eventually be told in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, according to a new trailer.

Dumbledore confronts Grindelwald in the latest Fantastic Beasts trailer. “What you’re doing is insane,” he says. Grindelwald responds, ” “I’m going to burn their world down, Dumbledore, with or without your help. Nothing you can do will be able to stop me. Do you really intend to abandon your own people?” “No,” Dumbledore says emphatically.

When Grindelwald continues to argue, “You were the one who declared we could change the world. “Because I was in love with you,” Dumbledore says, “it’s what we said we’d do.””

To put it another way, he reveals that he and Grindelwald were more than friends. In the trailer, there are also brief scenes of Dumbledore and Grindelwald shaking hands.

Jude Law reprises his role as Dumbledore from the previous flicks. Meanwhile, after Johnny Depp was ousted from the films, Mads Mikkelsen has taken over as Grindelwald.

It remains to be seen whether Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s relationship will be addressed further in the film.

Is Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore a sequel?

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is a direct sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and the third installment in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film series, which is based on one of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter companion books.

It is the eleventh film set in the wizarding world overall. David Yates directs the film, which has a screenplay by J. K. Rowling, and Steve Kloves returns to assist. Is Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts the same as Harry Potter?

In Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the Fantastic Beasts version of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) demonstrates incredible wizarding ability; in fact, he is so powerful that the only Harry Potter wizard who could match him is himself.

In the Fantastic Beasts series, Dumbledore is depicted as a younger man, facing out against Grindelwald (now played by Mads Mikkelsen after Johnny Depp’s departure from the franchise) for the first time.

However, fans are more likely to be familiar with Dumbledore’s portrayal in the Harry Potter films, where he is depicted at a much older age.

Dumbledore was performed by respected actor Richard Harris in the first two Potter films. Following Harris’ death, Michael Gambon assumed control and was given the opportunity to portray Dumbledore in some of J.K. Rowling’s most action-packed and emotional scenes.
