Benfica president Rui Costa has reacted to Enzo Fernandez’s move to Chelsea.

He said: “Enzo Fernandez did not want to stay at Benfica. He didn’t give us any chance. I did my best, I’m sad but I’m not gonna cry for a player who didn’t want to stay”.

“When Chelsea arrived, it was really impossible to change his mind”.

Costa added: “During the Deadline Day we found an agreement to sell Enzo to Chelsea in the summer but he didn’t want to stay.”

“At that point I said: he can’t play for Benfica anymore, no way. I don’t cry for players who doesn’t want to wear our shirt”.

Gareth Bale did not disappoint on his PGA Tour debut.

The Wales legend put on a stunning show at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, including a miraculous par save from the cart path.

Alongside professional partner Joseph Bramlett, Bale closed with a seven-under-par 65 to end tied 18th on the amateur leaderboard.

Marco Silva will return to the scene of his ‘saddest day’ as a football manager when Fulham travel to Chelsea on Friday – live on talkSPORT.

Silva was in charge of Hull in 2017 when midfielder Ryan Mason suffered a career-ending fractured skull following a sickening collision with Gary Cahill.

The then 25-year-old was taken to hospital after receiving treatment for nine minutes on the field before departing on a stretcher, while receiving oxygen.

Friday marks Silva’s 400th game as a manager but when asked about memories of Stamford Bridge, he reflected on the day back in 2017.

“I will tell you one memory for me that was the saddest one, but one that comes clear in my mind, was Ryan Mason had a bad injury when I was in Hull,” he said.

“It comes to mind because it was probably my saddest day as a manager in football.

“It was that evening, Chelsea against Hull, (memorable) because of what happened to Ryan Mason.

“Each game is a different story and we have to write our own story tomorrow.”

Manchester United will conduct an internal investigation to determine Mason Greenwood’s future.

Charges including attempted rape and assault against the young United forward have been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, it was announced on Thursday.

Greenwood has been suspended by United since news of his arrest in January last year was confirmed.

He will not return to playing or training while United carry out their own internal investigation.

The Premier League club hope to gain a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the allegations made against Greenwood before determining their next steps.

It is unclear how long this will take and was not commenced until now to avoid prejudicing criminal proceedings.

Gary Neville says it was ‘clumsy’ to like a tweet in relation to Mason Greenwood’s case.

Charges including attempted rape and assault against Greenwood have been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Nazir Afzal, a former prosecutor within the CPS, referred to Greenwood as an ‘innocent man’ and insisted he was ‘innocent until proven guilty’ in a string of tweets.

Ex-United defender Neville liked one of the tweets, which sparked a backlash among some social media users.

He said: “This like is being misinterpreted. It was a clumsy like as I obviously condemn any violence against women.”

Mason Greenwood has spoken publicly for the first time in over a year following news that the police have dropped all charges against him.

The Manchester United striker said, as per the Sun,: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.

“There will be no further comment at this time.”
