“This is excruciatingly painful. “We don’t even know him,” Toke Makinwa laments Banky W’s defeat to Labour Party candidate
Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa, has lamented bitterly over singer, Banky W’s loss to Labour Party candidate, Thaddeus Attah, at the polls.
It was earlier reported that Thaddeus defeated Banky W of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge winner of the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The result was announced on Sunday at the Collation Centre in Lagos State Model Nursery and Primary School, Marwa, Lekki 1.
Attah won the election with 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, singer and politician Banky W, who had 18,666 votes, and Mr Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had 16, 901 votes.
The INEC Returning Officer, Prof Funmilayo Odukoya, who declared the result said,
“That Thaddeus Attah of LP, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared winner and is returned elected; signed by me. Thank you so much.”
Reacting to Banky W’s loss, Toke Makinwa stated that she is very disappointed and sad because the singer worked extremely hard for the seat.
According to her, the people of Eti Osa are not even familiar with Thaddeus, who won the election.
In a now-deleted tweet, Toke Makinwa wrote,
“The news of LP winning in Eti Osa House of Representatives is so painful cos he didn’t campaign, we don’t even know him.
Banky worked so hard, Banky deserves to win Eti Osa.”
